COVID-19 also known as Coronavirus has taken the nation by storm. We try really hard to protect Emily from the news and social media because she is a very sensitive quirky kiddo. She can sometimes get carried away with the what ifs. But, as things are being canceled it is becoming harder to keep things from her. I know my child and I know that she will have a million questions. I know that her best defense against this virus is knowledge. So, I decided to throw together a COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Unit Study.
Before you get started I highly suggest reading this article from the CDC about Talking with Kids.
The first thing we will be doing is listening to the Brains On Podcast – understanding coronavirus and how germs spread. The next thing I am planning for us to do is watch Dr. Bionics What is Coronavirus video on YouTube. We will also be exploring the Coronavirus on BrainPop too. We will also be mapping the virus using the CDC Locations with Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Global Map.

Virulence An Infectious Card Game – Virulence is a blind bidding game where players take on the roles of viruses, competing to infect a host cell. Pandemic – Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out. Players must work together playing to their characters’ strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks.
