Garden Themed Morning Basket

Our April Morning Basket is themed around Peter Rabbit. It will include rabbits, garden, and Easter GALORE!

April Morning Basket Choices:

The main thing we will be using this month are the Meaningful Menus (use the code WALDOCK20 for 20% off). Meaningful Menus are a resource for parents and educators looking for an open-and-go way to foster connection with kids through poetry, songs, and more.

For bible, we will be using The Garden, The Curtain, and The Cross. This beautifully illustrated hardback book takes children on a journey from the garden of Eden to God’s prefect new creation. Retelling the Easter story through a Bible overview, children will discover that ‘because of our sin, we can’t go in’ but because of Jesus’ victory on the cross, an even better garden awaits us.

For logic, we are using Spot It! Easter Edition. We love the Spot It! games and they are perfect for morning baskets because they have a quick game play and are great for brain training.

For journal, we will still be using our Q&A a day for kids. This journal is the perfect family keepsake: A place for parents and children to share the evolution of thoughts, feelings, and dreams over the years, or a journal for kids who want to keep a time capsule of their own ideas about the worldโ€”whimsical or serious.

Our read aloud book this month will be Alice Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass. This is the book for the Morning Basket Family Book Club for April.

For the language arts loop we will be reading through the Beatrix Potter Treasury and using Peter Rabbit Mad Libs Junior. Mad Libs are a huge favorite in our house for practicing parts of speech in a fun and gentle way.

For the geography & history loop we will be reading through National Geographic Kids Easter, which gives a great history and explanation of Easter practices.

For the math loop we will be reading through Math for All Seasons, which a book of mind stretching math riddles by Greg Tang.

For the science loop we will be reading through the DK Watch Me Grow Rabbits and using the rabbit printables from HomeEd Printables to help learn more about rabbits. We will also be using the Blossom & Roots Book Seeds (use the code SPRING30 for 30% off) for the The Tiny Seed and Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt to learn more about plants and gardens, these include S.T.E.A.M., Nature Study, Recipes, Art Activities, Exploring Language & Poetry and All inspired by a beautiful childrenโ€™s book selection. As well as the garden printable set from Chickie and Roo (use the code THEWALDOCKWAY for 20% off).

Some other fun books we have to enjoy together are Peek Inside the Garden for her to read to me and It all Starts with a Seed…How Food Grows for me to read to her.

I also have the Rooted Childhood April Collection (use the code THEWALDOCKWAY10 for 10% off) that we will be pulling poetry, songs, finger play, and handicrafts out of for our morning basket time as well.

I have decided to add some movement to our basket each month as well, this month we are using the Thinkfun Yoga Dice game, which is so much fun.

I try to have hands on things for Emily to do while I am reading aloud I have some Easter themed perler beads, a wooden Peter Rabbit to paint, the Usborne Garden Activity Wipe-Clean book, and the Peter Rabbit Favorite Places sticker book, and some fun plush vegetables.

I also have the Growing Garden Calendar from Everyday Learn and Play (Use the code WALDOCK25 for 25% off), two Veggie Buds Club Boxes, and the game Gathering a Garden by EeBoo.

The last thing we will be using are Resurrection Eggs. The Resurrection Eggs offer children a wonderful hands-on resource to learn about Jesus’ Resurrection Story. Perfect for use at home, this set of 12 brightly colored plastic eggs crack open to reveal miniature symbols of Easter inside.
