The Best Games For Learning in March
We love playing games together and incorporating them into our homeschool. Games can be used to teach everything from math and phonics to history and music! Gameschooling is an engaging interest-led way for kids of all ages to learn.
At The Waldock Way, we’re always looking for exciting new games to play together. That’s why I’ve put together this fun list of 10 March games kids of all ages can enjoy.

The Best Games for Each Month of the Year
Playing games together is such a fun way to learn just about everything! Games naturally weave together motor skills, critical thinking, practical life skills, and a variety of academic subjects. They’re also one of our favorite ways to spend quality time together as a family.

Over the years, we’ve gathered a big collection of games. This March, we’re excited to share some of our favorites with you. These games are filled with learning opportunities that line up with all your favorite upcoming holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, Dr. Seuss Day (Read Across America Day), and Pi Day.
March Game Suggestions for Kids of All Ages
March is filled with fun holidays and important days to mark with kids of all ages. This month is a mixture of the last few cold winter days and the beginning of spring showers. If you find you’re stuck indoors a lot due to the weather, try a few of these exciting March games to celebrate Women’s History Month, St. Patrick’s Day, and Dr. Seuss Day together as a family.
Books and Ladders
On March 2, we celebrate Read Across America Day. It’s an excellent holiday to encourage reading together as a family. Start with the 30+ Best Kids Books to Read This March. Then, play Books and Ladders, a literary version of the popular childhood Chutes and Ladders game.
By the Book
Combine logic, critical thinking, and a love of books with By the Book, a novel stacking puzzle game from FoxMind. There are 40 different challenges to solve for ages 8 and up. It’s an excellent game to use for strewing this March because kids can play solo or with friends.
Cat in the Hat Memory Master Card Game
Read Across America Day is often called Dr. Seuss Day because it’s his birthday celebration. So it’s the perfect day to have some silly Seuss fun with the whole family! Play the Cat in the Hat Memory Master Card Game with kids of all ages to develop memory skills, problem-solving, and practice early math concepts.
Dr. Seuss Pattern Party Game
Another fun game to play together is the Dr. Seuss Pattern Party Game. This game from Funko encourages pattern practice, color recognition, and shape learning with kids ages 6 and up. Plus, it’s filled with your favorite Dr. Seuss characters!
Ingenious Women
Laurence King’s Ingenious Women game includes 25 influential women for kids to learn about as they play this matching game with the whole family. This memory game makes it easy to add history, memory building, and fun into your homeschool lesson plans for Women’s History Month.
Inspirational Women Trivia Game

Lucky Bears
St. Patrick’s Day is the first holiday that comes to mind when I think about March celebrations, so I had to include a few fun “lucky” games. This month, have fun with Lucky Bears, a National Parks board game for kids ages 8 and up. It’s the perfect addition to our Traveling the Parks Curriculum.
Phenomenal Women Bingo Game
Another cool game for Women’s History Month is the Phenomenal Women Bingo Game from Talking Tables. If you have younger kids who might not enjoy trivia, this bingo game is a great alternative. It’s an easy way to familiarize young learners with important women throughout history even if they aren’t quite ready to memorize all the facts.
Piece of Pie Game
March 14 is Pi Day, a day to celebrate math and enjoy a slice of your favorite pie. This year, why not play Piece of Pie together too? This strategy game from Blue Orange encourages kids to choose the pieces that match the recipe on display and build the perfect pie.
Pies Game
The Pies Game isn’t just pie themed, the pieces also feature Pi, making it perfect for celebrating a math-themed holiday. This strategic game is quick to play in 20 minutes or less and easy to learn. It’s great for practicing math skills and strategy on family game night.

Top Trump cards are some of our favorite games to play on the go. These decks are easy to slip in a purse or bookbag for learning when you’re out and about.
